About the COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY

The Community Food Pantry (CFP) strives to end the physical and emotional hunger of families in a dignified manner. The CFP takes a comprehensive approach to serving our clients that not only alleviates hunger but also provides support services such as health screenings, veterans’ assistance, and nutritional education for the whole person. The CFP is a 501(c)(3) organization as a mission of Village Presbyterian Church.  All clients and volunteers have no responsibility to Village Presbyterian Church or its programs.

Summary of Internship

During the spring semester 2017, two internships will be offered by the CFP to local college students.  These internships will allow students an opportunity to serve with the staff of the CFP and have an integral role in the development of new opportunities to help the pantry community.  Interns will serve clients, develop new programs, and establish community partners and outreach.  Interns will research features and nutritional benefits of foods and gather health tips as determined by our nursing volunteers.

Intern candidates must be available for 5 hours per week for the semester.  Applicants must have interest in philanthropy and / or ending hunger in the community.  All candidates will be considered and, if selected, will receive training and supervision by the CFP staff.
